I should realize you wouldn't have aggressive sea life.  Mind you, you did have one disappear, which reminds me of the two newts my daughters had when they were young.  Same thing - one day one of them just disappeared.  We kept looking at the remaining newt and couldn't believe it.  It was the smaller of the two...

In our case the missing one did show up much later and very dried out - it must have been swatted out by the cat when the lid was left off or forgotten by the girls or their friends.

turns out that one of the fish i lost must have become aggressive to the shrimp and they killed each other. When i bought the fish, i was told it was peaceful, but in reality it wasn't.

Now everyone is verified peaceful and the gang is getting along well. Almost all my fish have decided to come out and stay out. The Red Mandarin Dragonet made a rare appearance today! I was shocked to see him. He hides 100% of the time and seeing him is a treat.

I hadn't realized that this thread was an older ongoing one and that you had these salty fish all along and that these were new additions or replacements.
I am looking at some from months ago..very tropical looking and also very $$$ looking too! I think I
would faint if I found one floating on the top one morning after dishing out the $$.
Hey shane, get some goldfish or giant carp...at least you can see them! Now you have a shady outdoors...build an all-year-round koi pond.  My neighbors have one surrounded by bamboo all over the place and giant frogs and carp in the pond. It is a real 'japanese oasis' in the inner city! They built it after returning from vacationing in Japan. (I stay-cation and grow AG LOL).
Server very slow tonight .  Any Geranium eye candy yet?

When i own my own home and leave apartment living i will certainly have a koi pond year round. AThe fish that hide teach me an important lesson. If i were to see it daily, the thrill would be gone and it would become just another thing to me. By hiding its a treat to see them. It makes me appreciate the act of seeing the fish.

Just as my gardens teach me patience, i try to take a lesson from daily life. as Corney as it sounds  Roll Eyes
