I just bought a lettuce seed kit on clearance.  The package looked good, but the nutrients had leaked all over the box.

More importantly, inside the hole of the pods, I see what looks like tiny dried leaves.  I am wondering if this is normal or if the seeds had started to grow and then dried up.

Any thoughts?

I don't think it's normal.  My kit had seeds in it.

call for a replacement, Dried leaves are a bad sign since you should get seeds only in pods.

After closer inspection, the "leaves" were actually the seeds.  In fact, they are in the garden now.

Oh good, glad you got them planted. Best of luck for a full garden!

i would just try the kit and see if it grew if it didn't just return it.
