I received my aerogarden at Xmas and planted the two tomato seeds that came with the garden.  One died and the other grew.

However, now I get lots of flowers but no fruit.

What did I do wrong.

Thanks

Audrey

Welcome to the forum Audrey!

You didn't necessarily do anything wrong.  I'm assuming it was the VeggiePro with the Ruby Heirloom tomato plants that you received.  A number of members have had problems with that kit - I would say it's a difficult kit to grow as a first tomato garden in the AG.

I planted my kit the 29th of December and just got my first little green tomatoes starting less than a week ago.  At this point there are only two, but lots of flowers and some buds dropping unfortunately.  Some members started harvesting weeks ago.  Others only got a few flowers.

I'm not sure how you're pollinating.  I think the AG instructions still say to shake the plants.  Using a soft paint brush to brush open flowers helps with pollination.  Some members touch the back of the stem with an electric toothbrush.

Is there anything you can see on the plant to make you think it's not doing well?  If you're having drying leaves at the bottom of the plant that's normal when the plant starts blossoming.  Do you know why the one plant died - what happened to it?  If you're able to take a picture, members can take a look and provide some advice if it's needed.

You have lots of flowers - that's good.  Sometimes these plants want to get their flowers out before they start ripening the fruit.  Just be sure to get them pollinated.  I use the paint brush and shake the plants just in case I miss some.

I use a brush or my finger to pollinate my tomatoes and peppers. Tomatoes are a little harder to pollinate, so you may have to repeat it every day. Be gentle and do not worry if some flowers fall off, That's normal.
