1 year warranty on seed kits
«
on:

unless im mistaken.
I received a replacement box for cherry tomatoes... and yes it had the liquid nutrient packs.
I read the book or an insert that referenced 1 year from date of purchase.
so there goes our guarenteed to sprout unlimited warranty. I need to verify they are putting dates on the boxes or at least retain the reciept.

Thanks for the heads-up on this Podman. I just checked the one in my flower kit box that does NOT have the liquid nutrients - same notice.

Makes sense to me. Why should they warranty stuff into infinity? I think it's a good thing!

I agree, but I've been stocking up on kits that are on sale or I want to make sure I have it before they're no longer available. Will have stop doing that - or buy more machines I guess!

honestly they shouldnt...
We always asked about dates on the boxes and this is the response we got...
Aerogrow always hyped the "buy the kits w/o worry about old seeds, if they dont grow, we'll replace them". so the same holds true... lol just make sure you keep the reciept and its within 360 days...

I was very comfortable buying any kit before. So far I've not had germination problems in any of the eight gardens I've grown and wasn't anticipating any, but now I'll definitely be holding off buying kits. If any of the older ones without the notice don't germinate, I still plan to call about those.

Hi Podman,
I'm curious what the AG liquid nutrients pack looks like. Does it require you to add the nutrients to water separately, then mix and add to the AG?

I've bought ahead, too. Some things I wish I would have bought more of.
I'm assuming they'll inform customers if the kits they're selling in the Outlet store are outdated. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy them anyway though, if the price was right.

take two sugar packets one on top of the other and thin it by 1/3 this is the container. it's clear , and may/probably has writing on it. the liquid is brown in color which also has some white powder in it... recommendation is to shake it up before putting in aerogrow.
I didnt read the instructions (didnt use the kit yet). I would assume putting it directly in the bowl , but again i havent read the instructions yet.
i'm extremely glad AG has changed the nutrients to liquid... too many problems with the pills. i accept the 1 year warranty... and can only guess the older boxes fall under the grandfather clause.

I just received a new kit from AeroGrow which has the old open-ended warranty but is packaged with the "standardized" tablets they're using up before switching everything to liquid. It looks like there could be a transitioning period for the warranties as well...

So far, whenever I've had a pod that didn't germinate, they simply sent me a new one, no questions asked about how old they were; no one even asked for proof of purchase at all.

Ah, so the warranty did go to one year? Good to know.
I'm wondering a bit about how long the liquid nutrients are good for. I just got a couple new kits for Valentine's Day and at the ends of the clear packets, there is a lighter, more solid looking area that appears to have separated out. Now the packets do say to *shake*, but on this one kit, shaking definitely isn't enough... I had to squeeze the solid stuff and kind of break it up before shaking.
Also, in the two kits hubby bought me, one had some chemical crud all over the packets. It washed off, but it made me wonder. The other kit, the packets were nice and clean. Both are stored now in ziploc baggies, down in a cooler area of the basement.
At any rate, I'm using the packets and we'll see what happens. I don't do seed kits that much, so if I don't like the AG liquid nutes... I'll just go back to my GH Flora series. Also, as far as I know... you just clip a corner off a packet and pour right in the bowl. But I suppose you could mix with water first and then pour. I figured the bubbler aeration would mix things well enough. One minor annoyance... I'd asked hubby for six-pod kits, figuring I'd split them and use in two AG3s. But the startup nutrients come in a larger packet and need to be split in half for the AG3s. A bit more of a pain than splitting up nutrient tabs. But you can just clip a tiny corner, then fold up the top and tape it, so it's not insurmountable. I'd assume 3-pod kits would have a smaller packet for startup.

To use the liquid nutrients, you just shake the packet and add it to the bowl. You do not have to mix it with water first.
