Looks great, Corinne! Based on your results, I think I'll put in an order for those zinnia seeds from Park.

Just an update on the Choco Sunflowers and the Zinns
planted in the Classic on Sept 26th.
As you can see, the progress is much slower for these in the
Classic as compared to the AG3 which took off like wildfire and are
sturdily blooming and are continuing to multiply.

The Sunflower plants are in the back row, , are nice and green and sturdy, but no buds yet.

In the front row are 3 pods of Zinnias .
The one on the right is   a Park Swizzle Cherry like the one pictured in the avatar.
It is the tallest and as a bud forming  has the 2nd photo depicts.

The other 2 pods in front are from Park also, but are a mix of some other variety..I can't recall, and
they are more fragile and much slower to mature.
Have I said it before??!!  Wink I heartily recommend the
Swizzle Cherry Variety for outdoor gardening next year as well as
AG fun! This variety is a delight to grow.

The next photo is a tiny pot I planted of 2 Petunia sprouts taken from a Classic machine
to make room for another set of tomatoes.
I stuck them into the soil...pods and all. I feed them the same Ultra Grow Nutes as the other flowers, and the pot sits snugging up to my Classic..the only light they get.  Who says one can't do well scrounging off others ??!!   My 'tunias love to mooch  off the Classic hood lights!  Grin

I tend not to post so much
because the photos would just bore you being so
repetitive, but here is an 8 week update:
The Choco Sunflowers are now getting buds..
took a while., But they re doing fine.
Here is 1 of the 3 plants in the Classic :

In the front row are planted 3 Zinnias.
One, the Cherry Swizzle which I have been
growing is in full bloom and next to it
in the 3 front pods of the Classic are 2 other types of Zinnias,
the color will be a surprise to me.
As you can see, the Swizzle has matured
and bloomed and grew much sturdier than
the other Zinnia variety which has tiny buds
on both plants .All these were planted same
day as the Choco Sunflowers..8 weeks ago.
I ordered another set of these seeds in another color also.
 I am hooked.

Next photo is a pot of 2 pods I took out of
the Classic when I planted the sunflowers and zinnias.
When these petunias were transplanted
(I just put the 2 sponges right down in the potting soil)
 they were brand new seedlings.
Now they are flourishing, but no buds yet.
The key thing about this little 'experiment'
is that they have absolutely no light but for
the light borrowed from the AG3 they are next to, yet they thrive.

And finally here is the AG3 with the original Zinnias, still giving me buds and flowers.
If you look in the lower right hand corner you can see a small plant coming up.
It is a healthy looking lil runt of a plant..short and green and
sturdily growing at its own pace.
No doubt it needs nutes other than the 1-2-3 mix
I am giving the mature plants, but ..it gets what it gets,
and I am still giving it a chance. One day, I trust it will bloom too.
The other 2 plants have multiplied  side branches
with buds also(for lack of the right terms)
.  Did I ever tell you that I Heart Zinnias??!!

OK..the next update will be when the choco sunflowers ,
the 'mystery color' zinnias and the petunias bloom.

My little surprise Zinnia turned out to be
an orange flower..so similar to a marigold to me.  The bloom is about a quarter size.

My transplanted Petunia has started to flower and is stealing it's
light from an AG machine.  It is doing a smashing good job growing in it's
potting soil..sponge and all!

Now the Choco Sunflowers have not bloomed yet,
so I am breaking my promise not to
post about them until they bloom:
Anyway, to give you an idea on the size of the plant, the plants
measure about 9" tall and the leaves are about 4" long.  Small for sunflowers as
these are dwarf.
Here are 2 photos of the center of 2 of the flowers. I have 4plants and
they are all looking the same as to budding.

Now under each center bud there are babies..Here you
can see one on either side of the stock just under
the pen used as pointer.
I consider this another successful custom seed project.

Now remember the plant I nicknamed 'Late Bloomer' ? This was a lil runt and
just refused to grow at the same rate as the others.
I have now re-named it 'Not-so-ugly Duckling"
because it was never a Zinnia, but was in all actuality
a Choco Sunflower living among the Zinnias, judging by
the shape of the leaves and the bud.
What' d' ya know! However I refused to pull the plant
out and gave it a chance and I am glad I did.   Cheesy

I think I see a bud, don't you??!!

OK that's the update!
FWIW

Yes I see a bud!  Your flowers are getting very exciting.  I like the orange flower.  It DOES look like my yellow marigold.

Matter of fact, your project inspired me
to give the sunflowers a go, if memory serves me right.
